The Challenge
The Department of the Navy
(DON) Chief Information Office (CIO) was in need of policy development,
implementation, and guidance over the full range of Information
Management (IM), Information Technology(IT), and Project Management.
The Solution
UII delivered best practices,
policies, and standards concerning E-Business and E-Government concepts
and emerging IM/IT challenges. We provided assistance in a variety
of technology support functional areas for the Electronics business
(E-Business) organization. The purview included all management
issues relevant to the DON CIO, Department of Defense (DoD), and
other Federal Agencies e-Government initiatives, such as SmartCards
and Common Access Cards. We also provided assistance to the DON
CIO in planning, developing and implementing a variety of IM/IT
programs
The Impact
As a result, the DON had full the
capability of web technologies, necessary to transition its legacy
systems into an e-Business environment. System migration from a
stovepiped automated data process to a web-enabled Business-to-Business
(B2B) enterprise-wide integrated process streamlined processes,
improved communication, and increased efficiency.
