The Challenge
Alpha Technology Systems
(ATS), African-American-owned and veteran-owned is an 8(a) Small
Disadvantgaed Business (SDB) that offers Information Technology
(IT) services, solutions, and applications. As a young and small
company, ATS recognized a need for technical and business assistance
to improve its ability to perform as a subcontractor and prime contractor.
The Solution
To strengthen its capabilities,
UII is assisting ATS in the areas of technology transfer, organizational
development, and business development.
Using a technical needs assessment,
UII is assisting ATS in upgrading its Local Area Network (LAN) and
to improve its enterprise architecture. Under the program, UII is
supporting ATS in equipment procurement, ISO 9001:2000 compliance,
and the implementation of a Deltek Accounting System. UII also
continues to provide ATS with technical support on components of
current projects such as:
- Web Site Section 508 Compliance Prototype Development
- Intranet Web site functionality requirements analysis
- Intranet Web site conceptual design
- Meeting Management Resource System Plus (MMRS+) Development
The Impact
Significant milestones for
ATS include receiving authorization to use the GSA IT Schedule 70,
upgrading the Enterprise Architecture, and winning two contract
awards with the Bureau of Census for application development.
UII’s mentor relationship
with ATS is expected to continue until October 2004.
